The mass exodus of children from our world has brought civilization to the brink of disaster. Society is in panic. A wave of suicides by mothers distraught with grief is sweeping across the country. The situation is aggravated by the random failure of machinery and equipment. Transport is paralyzed, production is stopped. There is no electricity, water or gas. Administrative authorities, the police and the Ministry of Emergency Situations are powerless to fix anything. Alexander Gromov, dreaming of his own happy family, of his long-awaited son, finally finds the woman he loves, Lexa. However, the beginning of the exodus mercilessly destroys all his dreams and hopes. Two people who love each other stand on opposite sides of the barricades. Lexa is trying to reach into the unknown and bring her daughters back. Alexander, in constant battles and chases, helps children escape from the dying world.
