Skulls in the mass consciousness are strongly associated with something creepy, giving rise to a primal fear of death in souls. Today, its symbolic meaning is mainly reduced to its use as an element of decorative decoration or marginal shocking. Meanwhile, the deep metaphysical content of the “death’s head” symbol still remains a mystery for many. This work attempts to understand the sacred meaning of the skull using the example of its use in world religions and military formations.
