Another typist

(for all gadgets)
(including for Apple and Android)
Rose Baker, reserved, prim, observant and sharp-tongued, works as a typist at a Manhattan police station, taking shorthand notes for interrogations and priding herself on her rock-solid professionalism. It’s 1924, Prohibition is in full swing, and New York, not remembering itself, drinks and dances in underground dens. The old morality is crumbling into dust, but a woman in the police is still nonsense. Rose, brought up in strictness, fully shares the values of the bygone era and makes fun of modern mores. But one fine day another typist appears at the station.
The uninhibited beauty Odalia is the embodiment of the jazz era, and Rose instantly finds herself captivated by her charm, and soon in the very center of a carefree world, where there are no worries, only one splashing joy. This brave new world is beautiful and carefree, but little by little everything turns upside down. Girlish friendship turns into jealous dependence, cozy coexistence into an unpayable debt, a thirst for justice into a crime, trust into madness, a cowardly concession into an irrevocable sentence. At least that's what Rose thinks.
Inspired by The Great Gatsby, Susanna Rindell has written a gripping story about lies, trust and obsession. In this story, jazz thunders and cheerful, albeit somewhat hysterical laughter rings. “The Other Typist” is a black comedy of manners and noir, a psychological thriller, a story of friendship, a love story and a story about the impossibility of truth.
