A simultaneous interpreter comes to The Hague to work at the International Criminal Court. Her whole life is a series of endless moves, and in a cloudy city on the seashore she hopes to finally find a home. But it’s not so easy to get close to people for someone who is used to speaking in other people’s words, picking up on the slightest changes in tone and mood. When she is assigned to work with a former African president accused of crimes against humanity, little does she know that this will be a real test for her as a professional. Her personal life is also tinged with drama: the man she started dating is going through a difficult divorce and, it seems, is not yet ready to finally free himself from the bonds of marriage. All this pushes her to the edge of an existential abyss. And the only way to salvation is to find your own voice.
