I collected the stories for this book for a long time—fifteen years. Since the beginning of the third millennium. And it turned out... a kind of chronicle of War and Victory - a chronicle that passed through my heart and my memory. By the way, I was born into a family of front-line soldiers: my mother, Maria Ukrainchenko, was a front-line nurse, and my father, Grigory Shak, participated in the amphibious landing, being seriously wounded. I met some of the heroes of my war stories personally, about others learned from the stories of people who remembered them. Archival sources also helped to establish the truth about the war.
