In recent years, the profession of a landscape designer has become not only in demand, but also extremely fashionable. However, landscape art requires almost encyclopedic knowledge: in the field of architecture and construction, design and botany, plant growing, history and even philosophy. There are many universities in the country that train specialists in this profile, and the number of courses for landscape designers is simply limitless. At the same time, in this area, two directions can be distinguished, conventionally defined as architectural and biological, which exist in parallel, without intersecting or even touching. As a result, some specialists have perfectly mastered the engineering aspect, while others have mastered the biological aspect. There is an urgent need to unify the training of landscape designers. This publication is aimed at bringing together both aspects of their preparation. The proposed reference book includes a decoding of more than 500 terms covering the history of gardening art, techniques and principles of landscape design, characteristics of the main plant components of the landscape, biological features, and the types of woody and herbaceous plants used. Both classical and modern terms are considered. The book is illustrated with black and white drawings and color photographs. The reference book will be useful for students of specialized universities, students of various courses in the field of landscape architecture and amateurs trying to arrange their own plot of land.
