Allun Tanner was an overweight American with a problem. Actually, he, like many of us, has several problems, not least his equally overweight and frankly obnoxious wife Miriam. However, his main problem is that inside his massive, middle-aged frame there exists slender girl bursting to get out. His sole escape from his hum-drum existence is an RPG game, in which his chosen avatar was of a slender Celtic warrior princess called Tamsyn. A shy and competent IT man by day, during the rest of the time, Allun becomes Tamsyn and lives in a fantasy world not of his making. Drawn to return to Cornwall in search of his family roots, Allun arrives with Miriam in Falmouth and is eager to start. Miriam is less than enthusiastic over the whole vacation, and has moaned all the way from New Jersey. Leaving her with her complaints in the hotel, Allun goes for a walk to find some peace. He finds more than he bargained for. In local woodland he comes across an ancient and majestic oak that bears the name – ‘The Tamsyn Tree’. There is a plaque that explains the Celtic legend by which the tree got its name. As he rested, regarding the tree and letting his mind travel back to those days, he experiences a frightening vision of a Saxon Warlord and a small boy. He watches as the boy hurls something into the tree and is them struck down by the Saxon who seizes the sword the boy was carrying and rides off. The vision fades, so Allun, despite his weight and size, climbs into the tree and locates a torque bearing curious ancient runes. Not having a hand free, he places the torque around his neck to facilitate descent. A group of tourists come to see the tree before he can descend, so he remains frozen there, waiting to be discovered. The fact he is not seen by anyone, despite being simply enormous, shocks him. However, on glancing down, he notices that his girth has disappeared and he has become the girl from his game – the Lady Tamsyn. Indeed, all Allun’s clothes have vanished and the girl is wearing clothes becoming a Celtic warrior of the sixth century. Charged with a quest to recover the mystical sword, a very new and very excited young woman jumps down from the tree with many tough decisions to make. The game has just become ever so real. There is no escape button, no reset and start again, just consequences to each decision that is made. How will Tamsyn fare in the twenty-first century?
