The playwright Sir William Schwenk Gilbert (1836-1911) and the composer Sir Arthur Seymour Sullivan (1842-1900) occupy a very high place in the musical theater of Anglo-Saxon countries. Sergei Diaghilev and Igor Stravinsky were their passionate lovers. The caricature “Gilbert and Sullivan” was used in the binding design. Vanity Fair magazine for 1881.
