Selukov, P. Khalulaets: stories / Pavel Selukov. — Astana: Folio, 2019. — 368 p. - (Prose of our days. New tradition).

Russia is big and different, and there is Perm in it - “the city of pipes and lights " Pavel Selukov lives in this city, he writes short stories and other literary works, for example, novels, but mostly short stories, although he is already aiming at a novel. “Khalulaets” is the first author’s collection of stories of a novice writer. All of them in one way or another touch on extreme human states: fear, rage, excitement, cruelty, love. Actually, the legs of almost every one of them grow out of love. In a sense, these short works form the biography of one character, whom the reader meets in the story “The Braid” and says goodbye to in the story “One Day.” Conventionally, Pavel’s stories can also be united by the location of the action, because they all take place in Perm. Although the city of Perm here is more of a strange scenery against which events take place than a full-fledged participant in what is happening. Permians will certainly recognize themselves in the heroes of these lyrical, tragicomic, ironic, daring, biting works and will certainly be proud that their young fellow countryman is publishing a whole book. So what? there are Permians - in each of us there are features of Selukov’s restless teenagers, dreamy young men, philosophizing provincial intellectuals, snobs and cauldrons of a regional scale, marginalized people, goofballs, home-grown holy fools and restless souls...
