Covering the period from the birth of cinema until 2001, "Director's Encyclopedia. Cinema of Europe" includes more than 200 personalities from England, Bulgaria, Germany, Holland, Greece, Denmark, Spain, Italy, Slovakia, France, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Sweden and the former Yugoslavia. Of course, we could not imagine everyone who created films in Europe. The attentive reader "Director's Encyclopedia. Cinema of Europe" provides significant material that allows us to see the picture of the development of European cinema as a whole throughout its more than century-long, difficult and often dramatic history and fate creative impulses and discoveries, including those that were made long ago, but appreciated much later, to discover the complex relationships of various trends that arose in heterogeneous cultural and social conditions in different countries and at different times. The connections and intersections of various phenomena and individual cinematic facts, obvious in the presented picture of European cinema, are often similar to the intricacies of a labyrinth, only after passing through which can one fully appreciate individual sections of the path.
