The book includes two novels with elements of autobiography: “Old Men” and “Pale Blooper.” “Old Men” was written in 1979 by Gustav Hasford (1947–1993), a US Marine Corps veteran, based on his memories of the Vietnam War. Filmed under the title “Full Metal Jacket.” In 1990, a sequel to the novel was released, “The Pale Blooper,” about a “traitor” with an M79 grenade launcher. A third part was also planned, but the author died shortly after the completion of the second. This edition is supplemented with comments.
