The historical and autobiographical dilogy by Wolfgang Georg Fischer (born 1933) tells the story of the first four decades of the 20th century, associated with turbulent and tragic changes in the lives of its heroes and in the fate of Austria. In the novels “Native Walls” and “Foreign Corners,” human passions and historical events draw into their orbit the world of objects, things surrounding a person, his habitat, that unique and humorous (sometimes very bitter) reproduced “setting” that serves background of the narrative and at the same time constitutes an essential part of it.
