The book is dedicated to the problem of community, which has been practically unexplored in Russia, understood not as an institutional formation, but as a condition for reading a wide variety of texts of modern culture. Subjects covered include the early 20th-century artistic avant-garde, the utopian in popular culture, event and document (including Capitalized Event), image as opposed to image, “the multitude,” and reflections on political outcasts. Community, understood as a form of collective affectivity or as the “other” of existing society, leaves its mark in literary, cinematic and photographic works. The book is published in the author's edition.
