The main attention in the monograph is paid to the conduct of election campaigns in the I, II, III, IV State Dumas, the Constituent Assembly and local authorities in 1906-1917, Nizhny Novgorod data on which are systematized and published for the first time. The mechanism of elections, the composition of the electorate, and methods of pre-election struggle are examined. The activities of the Cadet Party (the largest parliamentary party in pre-revolutionary Russia) are considered in close connection with the political history of the Nizhny Novgorod region at the beginning of the 20th century. For the first time, a complete picture of the events of 1917 in Nizhny Novgorod is given. Unique documents and materials on the political history of the Nizhny Novgorod region in 1905-1917 are published in the appendices.
