The book of the Catholic priest Mavro Orbini “The Slavic Kingdom”, which is essentially the FIRST history of all Slavic peoples, can easily lay claim to the title of the most sensational book of the century. It was first published in 1601 in Italy, and a series of scandals associated with it immediately followed. Traditional history took up arms against the book, followed by the Catholic Church. The publication was immediately included in the Index of Prohibited Books and miraculously escaped destruction. In 1722, on the personal instructions of Peter I, part of this book was translated into Russian, and now we present the full version, translated from Italian. The loud statements of Orbini, who tore to smithereens the traditional history of the Middle Ages, continue to shock seasoned historians today.
