In his work, Ole Bjerg offers a philosophical analysis of money in modern capitalism. Issues related to monetary relations are conceptualized through the ideas of Slavoj Žižek, Jacques Lacan and Martin Heidegger. The author examines existing theories of money, analyzes current economic theories and models the process of money creation by banks in order to show the basic principles of the functioning of the financial system in modern society. He insists: the question of the essence of money and its creation is a political one.
