The textbook offers a concise description of romanticism as a cultural phenomenon - both in its own “romantic” identity and in a broader cultural context (on the one hand, the Enlightenment, on the other, the “landmark” phenomena of self-criticism of romanticism and the work of Heinrich Heine as "post-romantic" phenomenon). The manual presents characteristics of the main artistic dominants of the work of a number of romantic writers, as well as their individual works; in the appendices there are options for analyzing individual poetic texts dating back to the era of romanticism, in terms of their reflection of “general romantic” dominants and in intertextual contexts.
