"The Testament of Mary" is a provocative book that leaves an indelible impression. The elderly mother of Jesus, who lives alone after her son's crucifixion, tries to understand the events that formed the basis of the New Testament. Mary does not want to have anything to do with the authors of the Gospels, although they protect her in every way, provided her with shelter and food. She does not agree that her son is the Son of God and that his death was worth accepting for the sake of establishing a new religion. And at the same time, she judges herself mercilessly.
