The founder of the theory of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud, developed a three-component structural model of the human psyche and explored the mechanisms of its protection, formulated the method of free associations and substantiated the benefits of dream interpretation, introduced the concepts of “psychoanalysis”, “Oedipus complex”, “unconscious”. He created the concept of human psychology, which is used today to describe all aspects of personality. He had thousands of followers, dozens of students and only a few friends. Freud's works have been translated into 39 languages and are always popular, despite the fact that he was constantly reviled during his lifetime and heatedly criticized after his death. Peter Guy, the famous historian of European culture, always said that Freud, whom he himself admired, was nevertheless only a man and is therefore vulnerable to critical assessments.
