David Rockefeller is a representative of the third generation of the famous dynasty, which has become the personification of American capitalism. In the book, written at the age of 87, he tells the story of his life: his years of study, which gave him a fundamental humanitarian and especially economic education; service in the army during the Second World War, activities in the “family” bank “Chase” - one of the foundations of the financial power of the Rockefellers. The book also highlights his “parallel career” - participation in well-known philanthropic institutions based on donations from the Rockefellers and which played an important role in US public life. These are the Rockefeller Foundation, the Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research, the Museum of Modern Art, the General Council on Education. For many years, D. Rockefeller was one of the key figures in the creation and work of international non-governmental organizations that left a noticeable mark on world politics: the Bilderberg Club, Dartmouth conferences, the Trilateral Commission. D. Rockefeller had many meetings with prominent politicians from different countries. Among them are N.S. Khrushchev, A.N. Kosygin, F. Castro, Zhou Enlai, Deng Xiaoping, the last Shah of Iran, A. Sadat and others. His story about these meetings and about constant contacts with US government officials is of undoubted interest. The author's opinions about the banking business and problems of economic development cannot but attract attention.
