The book by the German historian N. Frei is a classic study of the political, social, economic and cultural history of the Third Reich. The author identifies three phases of the internal development of the “Führer State”: the formation phase, which ended with the so-called Röhm Putsch, the consolidation phase, when the “myth of the Führer” flourished in Germany and the “people's community” propagated by the Nazis partly became a reality, and, finally, the phase of tough radicalization after the outbreak of World War II.
