For a long time, the dead submarines and submariners were either mentioned in passing or not mentioned at all. The exploits of these peacetime heroes are still not known to the general public. The pages of the book provide data on accidents that led to the death of submarines and the death of Pacific Fleet submariners. Cases of both emergency and combat nature are indicated. The data presented does not claim to be complete or absolutely reliable, since it was obtained from an analysis of open and small archival sources. The book is written based on materials from domestic and foreign literature, design documentation of submarines, essays on the history of design bureaus and submarines, reference and memoir literature, magazine articles, etc. Information from the Central Naval Museum of Russia, foreign military museums and memorials was used. “Tragedies of the Pacific Submarine” also contains photographs of dead submarines and photographs of memorials and monuments to submarines, which perpetuate the military successes, courage and bravery of submariners in the fight against the enemy and which became monuments to submariners who died during their testing and operation.
