Night Ride is Matthew Corbett's new Halloween story. Events take place immediately after the end of the Queen of Bedlam case, in October 1702. An unusual stranger visits Matthew Corbett in his home in the middle of the night and invites him to take on an urgent and, at first glance, trivial task. All he had to do was deliver an envelope with a secret message to his brother, who lives at the end of the road that branches off the Boston Postal Route. Having barely become a full partner in the Herrald agency, Matthew decides to take up independent work and prove to his colleagues that he is worthy of the trust placed in him. However, the task turns out to be not as simple and safe as he thought. For some reason, the Indians call this road “cursed”, and the brother about whom the mysterious client spoke is reputed to be long dead...
