Contrary to traditional belief, death is not the end of everything and not a transition to the afterlife. The dead simply wake up in one of millions of worlds where they are destined to live and die again, only to wake up somewhere else. Everyone is born only once, but dies many times until they reach Neoglashengrad, where they can find the Gate of True Death. Former New Yorker Cooper finds himself in Neoglashengrad, a city of bloodthirsty aristocrats, disguised gods and goddesses, immortal prostitutes and queens. But now this place is going through hard times: the Gate of True Death is collapsing, the streets are flooded with the Dying, and the madness they spread is capable of consuming the entire metaverse.
