Everyone knows: Janusz Korczak is a great teacher who died along with his students in the Treblinka gas chamber. He did not abandon his children, having accomplished an absolute and unconditional feat. He was 64 years old. How did he live before that? His father went crazy, and Korczak blamed himself for his mother’s death until the end of his days. All his life he thought about suicide and even tried to commit suicide. In his youth he took a vow of celibacy, but lived with a woman for three decades under the same roof. He adored other people's children, but did not have his own. An unconditional humanist, Korczak nevertheless fought in three wars. And finally, and most importantly: Janusz Korczak is without a doubt a great teacher who introduced a completely new principle in relationships with children.
