The author of the book is Elena Georgievna Bonner, widow of Academician A.D. Sakharov. She shared with Andrei Dmitrievich all the hardships of many years of exile in Gorky (January 1980 - December 1986). The book is called “Postscript” - it’s like an afterword to A.D. Sakharov’s “Memoirs”. Most of the book was written in February - May 1986, when E. G. Bonner was in the United States for treatment. The documents included in the appendices also contain little-known letters and statements by A. D. Sakharov.
