The book “The Hanging Bridges of Fortune” is the second part of the autobiographical dilogy (the first “Blue Smoke of Chinese Women”) tells about the beginning of the heroine’s career as a primary school and German teacher in the remote settlements of Mountain Shoria, where she voluntarily went immediately after graduating from high school schools. Finding herself in unimaginably difficult living conditions, remaining day after day alone with the class and gradually getting to know each of her students individually, periodically encountering extraordinary circumstances and overcoming them, the eighteen-year-old heroine comes to the conclusion that she likes life full of unexpected turns, and working with children is the right choice.
