The son and heir of the King of England, the winner of the French in the battles of the Hundred Years' War, he seemed to his contemporaries the embodiment of a true knight, brave and gallant. Skeptical descendants saw the prince differently - a typical feudal lord, indifferent to the death and suffering of the victims of his military adventures.
