G. L. Kirdetsov’s book “At the Gates of Petrograd” covers the events of 1919–1920 that unfolded on the shores of the Gulf of Finland in connection with General N. N. Yudenich’s campaign against Petrograd, of which its author was a direct participant and observer. The main task that Kirdetsov set for himself was to show why “this page from the history of the Civil War ended for the anti-Bolshevik cause as sadly as everything that was done during this time in the South, Siberia and the Far North.”
