Thomas Patten Stafford - test pilot, one of the 24 people who flew to the moon, was the commander of the Apollo-Soyuz flight, which became his crowning achievement during the Cold War. In this memoir, written with Michael Cassutt, Stafford talks about his early successes as a test pilot. About his “handshake in space”, which proved to the whole world that two opposing countries can successfully work together. Stafford's Apollo-Soyuz team was the first group of Americans to work at the cosmonaut training center and also the first to visit Baikonur.
