This book contains a fascinating, detailed and almost complete story about Margaret of Angoulême, Queen of Navarre, who is rightfully considered one of the outstanding representatives of the Renaissance. Erasmus of Rotterdam and Philip Melanchthon considered it an honor to communicate with her; she helped writers and scientists, especially those who were persecuted for their beliefs, and patronized John Calvin, Clement Marot, and Francois Rabelais.
