In the new book of the famous historian of Russian literature A.V. Lavrov, the author of numerous articles and publications of newly discovered materials related mainly to the activities of Russian symbolists, included mainly works published in the last decade (including in inaccessible domestic and foreign publications). The book opens with a series of articles dedicated to the symbolist poet Ivan Konevsky and the relationship between Valery Bryusov and the heroines of his love lyrics. Other works analyze various aspects of the biography and creativity of the largest writers of the 20th century (Vyach. Ivanov, A. Remizov, M. Voloshin, Andrei Bely, M. Bulgakov, V. Nabokov, B. Pasternak), and also draw attention to little-known participants in the literary process (Al. Chebotarevskaya, Y. Sidorov, L. Semenov, M. Sizov, etc.). Correspondence between V. Bryusov and the leaders of the modernist magazine “Apollo” S.K. Makovsky and E.A. Znosko-Borovsky is published in full for the first time. The cover design uses a drawing by M. Durnov for “The Picture of Dorian Gray” by O. Wilde (1906) and a drawing by L. Bakst (1906).
