Sophie van der Stap was born in Amsterdam in 1983 and was the most ordinary girl - she studied, had fun, fell in love. Until in 2005, doctors diagnosed her with cancer. During 54 weeks of chemotherapy and other debilitating treatments, Sophie kept a blog, recording almost daily what was happening to her, recording her thoughts and emotions. And then, when the treatment was completed (fortunately, successfully), the blog turned into the book “The Girl with Nine Wigs” - an unexpectedly optimistic look at a terrible disease. This sad and funny story about illness, love and hope became a bestseller in Europe, and was filmed in 2013. Sophie van der Stap lives in Paris and continues to be involved in literature and journalism. In addition, she is one of the founders of the international charity Orange Ribbon, which helps children with cancer.
