Johann Sebastian Bach (1685–1750) went down in history as a virtuoso organist and prolific composer: cantatas, Passions, concertos, sonatas, fugues, canons, passacaglia - his work is incredibly diverse and perfect in instrumental technique and composition. In addition, he was an improviser, teacher and conductor. The father of twenty children, he introduced them to music, ensuring the relay of generations and the continuity of musical culture. In Bach's work, the usual line between secular and church music has almost been erased, which is why he is still considered one of the greatest composers of all times. “Music is for the glorification of God and for the permitted enjoyment of the soul,” he said, making these words his motto.
