The famous Catalan writer Quim Munzo (b. 1952) is unanimously called by critics one of the best European masters of the short story. His creative style intertwines realistic and grotesque styles. Munzo skillfully uses the rich traditions of Spanish surrealism, creating a special world in which ordinary objects take on fantastic, sometimes frightening shapes, and human characters are revealed from a completely unexpected side. As a rule, the ending of the story is unpredictable, and this keeps the reader in suspense until the very last line.
