To save her publishing house from bankruptcy, Suzanne Beckman is ready to do anything. Ironically, the only one who can help her is Alfred Firnais, a famous poet... and also a social phobic and a drunk. The hope of German poetry is in no hurry to create a new masterpiece, which does not please Susanna at all, and she persuades him to go to the Alps. Maybe inspiration will come to him there? But, alas, the poet’s muse got lost, and, sitting in a hut far from civilization, Alfred ponders an escape plan. And then - lo and behold! — he meets Mara, a young biologist studying lake fish. The poet is inspired and no longer thinks about returning home. But Mara disappeared as suddenly as she appeared. Will this story really have a sad ending? After all, no one except Mara will help Alfred, and therefore Suzanne.
