The famous French archaeologist Jacques de Morgan explores the history of the Armenian people from ancient times to the first quarter of the 20th century. Morgan's work is interesting primarily because it cites little-known and untranslated sources, and is distinguished by its vivid depiction of the dramatic events experienced by the Armenian people. The author presents the history of the wars in which, one way or another, the Armenians participated, and a gallery of portraits of the kings who ruled them. Morgan pays special attention to the cultural life of the people. On how writing, literature, fine arts, crafts, music, theater emerged and developed, naming the names of those who played an important role in this or that activity. The narrative is decorated with about four hundred drawings.
