The play “Intermission” takes place in a small provincial town. In the local regional theater, life goes on as usual. “Three Sisters” are on stage, behind the scenes the actresses quarrel over men and roles, intrigue, and gossip. The artistic director and director of the regional theater Peter is torn between high art and the “prose of life”, which forces him to constantly look for a means of livelihood so that the theater can survive... But at one moment the whole life of the theater changes - after many years he returns to his “small homeland” The famous director Pavel returns. He comes ostensibly to stage the infamous play “The Vagina Monologues,” but provincial actors and the theater’s artistic director are ambivalent about this idea. As the plot develops, it becomes clear that the director came not so much for this production, but to meet those with whom he began his journey in the theater, with friends, with women who were once close to him. He himself needs an “intermission” to rethink his life, think about the future, and look into himself.
