1998, Paris. Miro Jassy works as a second-hand bookseller on the Quai des Grands Augustins. He lives a quiet life, has almost no friends, only his dog Lemuel is waiting for him at home. One day, his neighbor on the embankment, a souvenir seller nicknamed Stella Kronenburg, gives him detective stories left by some eccentric client. The books are wrapped in the same newspaper issue, announcing the death of his former friend and brother-in-law Roland, also a second-hand bookseller. Roland was found strangled in his shop, with expensive editions of Jules Verne standing at his feet. Willy-nilly, Miro has to start his own investigation, as something tells him: he may become the next victim of a cruel murderer-bibliophile.
