Vladimir Shulya-Tabib (Vladimir Shulman) was born in Mogilev (Belarus) in 1951. He graduated from the Military Medical Academy. He served in Central Asia in the airborne forces. In 1980–1982. fought in Afghanistan in the air assault brigade. His pseudonym is a memory of the Afghan events. “Shulya” is what Vladimir’s friends called him back in school; “tabib” translated from the Dari language means doctor, healer. After Afghanistan, he served in Belarus. In 1987–1988. worked in Chernobyl to eliminate the consequences of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. After leaving the reserve in 1990, he worked in the cardiology ambulance team in Polotsk (Belarus). In the USA since 1994, he worked as a taxi driver. Currently a translator for an American company. Vladimir’s father is the famous writer Vladimir Shumov (Shulman), a regular contributor to the Mishpokha magazine. Vladimir began publishing in 1994. Novels and short stories have been published in various magazines in the USA (Baltimore, Miami, New York , Texas, San Francisco), Israel, Canada (Toronto), Belarus. Regular author of the Mishpoha magazine. The story “Jewish Taxi” was published in the “Anthology of Foreign Russian-Language Prose.”
