To get acquainted with the combat operations at sea, the Operations of the English Fleet in the World War were translated into Russian especially for the command staff of the RKKF and in 1941, almost without abbreviations, published in the Naval Publishing House of the NK of the Navy. (Voenmorizdat. Leningrad. 1941, 5 volumes with map appendices). The text of this book represents four chapters from the first volume of “Operations...” Let us note that before the events described in this book, the war was already raging in Europe, and a battle took place in the sea Heligoland, which resulted in the death of several German cruisers. Three British armored cruisers were sunk by the German submarine U-9. So, within a short period of time, the ships of the opposing sides died one after another.
