The writer Bess wakes up in the morning from a strange sound - it turns out that a shot rang out and her common-law husband was killed. His last words were allegedly “My wife killed me.” The police are investigating, Bess is shocked, she is not ready to be a widow, she is angry, grieving and, partly due to her profession as a writer, trying to find out the meaning of what happened, what is happening and her life in general. It turns out that not only she did not share everything with her husband - he also had his own secrets. The novel attracted attention with its accuracy of psychological drawing and unusualness - it is not for nothing that such different writers as Jo Nesbø and Thomas Espedal count it among their favorites, and in Denmark it became the largest literary event of the year - great literature written in the detective genre, so they say about him.
