The author of the Chronicle "The Acts of the Saxons" - Widukind, a monk of the New Corvea monastery, stands at the origins of the formation of the early feudal German state. He wrote his Chronicle in the 50s - early 70s of the 10th century, was a contemporary and chronicler of major events related to the formation of a new state based on the East Frankish Kingdom, which was one of the heirs of the Frankish Empire of Charlemagne. The book is the first Russian publication source on the history of the early feudal German state. This Chronicle devotes a lot of space to covering German-Slavic relations of the early feudal period. The publication contains an introductory article with a historiographical review of foreign and Russian literature and criticism of bourgeois concepts on the issue of German-Slavic relations of the early period, the Latin original of the “Acts of the Saxons”, its Russian translation and detailed comments on it.
