The new book by Andrei Aleksandrovich Chernyshev (born 1936) includes two works. One of them, “Next to the “wonderful cinema...””, is dedicated to the disputes at the origins of Russian cinema associated with the names of A. Khanzhonkov, A. Kuprin, V. Mayakovsky, K. Chukovsky, V. Shklovsky, and comes out second, revised edition. Another part of the book, “A Continent named “Mark Aldanov”,” summarizes the author’s numerous published statements about one of the largest writers of the first wave of Russian emigration. A creative portrait is created, the novels, stories, essays of the writer are analyzed, his correspondence with V. Nabokov, I. Bunin, who repeatedly nominated M. Aldanov for the Nobel Prize, is told about the active social activities of the writer and publicist in France, Germany, and the USA. The book is addressed to readers interested in the history of film journalism, as well as literature and journalism in emigration.
