James Hadley Chase (1906–1985), real name René Brabazon Raymond, was the author of more than eighty detective novels. J. H. Chase is a master of the “open” detective story, in which the reader is not confronted with the fact of committing a crime, but step by step participates in its preparation. Three novels by J. H. Chase introduce the reader to a world of robberies and kidnappings that lives according to its own cruel laws and violence, where safecrackers, poisoners, hired killers and treacherous beauties operate: “Shock Treatment” (“Shock Treatment”, 1959) (Steve Harmas – 3); “Easy come - easy go” (“Come Easy – Go Easy” , 1960); “One Bright Summer Morning”, 1963).
