Creating perspective is very easy; however, surprisingly, few artists are familiar with the simple laws that determine this lightness. The purpose of this book is to explain these laws.
What makes it easier to create perspective is how buildings are constructed and how various objects are constructed. We live in a world of right angles. Buildings, streets, furniture - all this is created on the basis of a rectangle. It does not seem unusual to us that any corner of the table easily fits into any corner of the room. This is how houses are built, this is how furniture is made. This fact allows perspective drawing to be a very simple activity. Having learned to draw an ordinary brick, it is easy to learn how to draw the perspective of our world.
The book provides a step-by-step explanation of perspective with illustrations that explain. Some steps are repeated, but this is done specifically to emphasize their importance. Strong emphasis is placed on the concept of "eye level". The bird and the worm look at the world from different levels. A man eighty-five meters tall, walking through the crowd, sees hats and hair, faces and shoulders. A baby a little over a meter tall can see hands and gloves, handbags and the hem of clothes. They both look at the same people at the same time. But how different is the world they observe! Height, which determines the distance from our eyes to the ground, is an important factor in depicting the world around us. Eye level is the true key to drawing in perspective.
Knowing the principles of perspective is not a tool for creating a rigid technical perspective in place of a beautiful freehand drawing. To build a bridge, we make a strict, precisely verified drawing. But, drawing the same bridge in a picture, we throw away algebra and leave only harmony.
