The remarkable Russian artist Yuri Pavlovich Annenkov (1889–1974) lived the last half century of his life abroad, in France. The book “Diary of My Meetings” is a memoir about outstanding figures of Russian culture, with many of whom the author was friends. A. Blok, A. Akhmatova, N. Gumilyov, G. Ivanov, V. Khlebnikov, S. Yesenin, V. Mayakovsky, M. Gorky, A. Remizov, B. Pasternak, E. Zamyatin, B. Pilnyak, I. Babel, M. Zoshchenko, Vs. Meyerhold, V. Pudovkin, N. Evreinov, S. Prokofiev, M. Larionov, N. Goncharova, A. Benois, K. Malevich and others appear on the pages of the “Diary...”, captured by the keen eye of the artist. Next to the people of art are state and party leaders of the first years of the revolution, primarily Lenin and Trotsky. This publication is supplemented by paintings, graphic and theatrical works by Yu.P. Annenkov from the 1910s to the 1960s. Many of them have never been published before. The “Appendix” includes articles by Yu.P. Annenkov on art. They are published in Russia for the first time.
