Count N. Adlerberg's book about a trip to Jerusalem in 1845 can be called an exemplary work among literary descriptions of pilgrimages to the Holy Sepulcher of representatives of the Russian aristocracy in the mid-19th century. Written easily and freely, it at the same time conveys the depth of the pilgrim’s religious feeling, gives a detailed description of Palestine and the holy places, as well as numerous everyday and historical realities of the Holy Land of that time. In the new edition, the text is accompanied by the necessary comments and a historical and biographical article about the author of the book. The book is intended for everyone who is interested in the history of the Holy Land, Jerusalem and Russian pilgrimage.
