The book of the Russian emigrant writer Vladislav (Vladimir) Albinovich Mayevsky (1893–1975) “Athos and Its Fate” has never been published in Russia. Being one of the last books published during the author’s lifetime, it sums up his many years of efforts to preserve Russian Athos in the conditions of the actual administrative blockade of the Holy Mountain by the Greek government in the 50s and 60s. XX century The book, as conceived by the author, includes the previously published cycle “Athos Stories”, which, together with the essay by Boris Zaitsev, constitute the golden fund of Russian literature about Athos in the 20th century.
