Two ordinary women Plusha and Natalie live next door in an ordinary typical five-story building on the edge of a field where Poles were shot in the late thirties. Among those shot, it is believed, was the Orthodox priest Thomas Golembowski, a Pole who converted to Orthodoxy and is about to be canonized. Plusha, working in the city museum of repressions, works on his manuscripts. These manuscripts, especially the “Children’s Gospel” written by Father Thomas in the early thirties (in which only children act), constitute, as it were, the second “layer” of the novel. What is more in this novel - fantasy or history - everyone will decide for themselves. But the novel is true to the truth of the artistic view, which alone remains after History.
